Fairly disappointed in their previous release, I found myself doubting Carnifex will ever make anything in class with their first full-length Dead In My Arms. They’ve definitely gotten rid of most of that extremely generic deathcore sound they had in The Diseased And The Poisoned, which is an improvement.

Needless to say, vocalist Scott has very impressive low growls, yet not as fullfilling screams/highs which puts down quality a little. He’s not at all as good as he was in Dead In My Arms. Musically it’s pretty much the same blast beating through all songs with not as many twists as you would want – which turns it into more or less just another band in the masses. However, Scott’s vocals are very characteristic and due to that it makes Carnifex stand out just a little.

That being said, there aren’t any songs that gives you a kick and, as with all the other deathcore bands nowadays, all songs sound pretty much the same. I’m starting to give up on this genre, because it just won’t deliver anymore.
