The local band Hearts Alive, recently signed to Rising Records, is a 5 piece metal band with strong roots in the hardcore genre. I have not listened to their older stuff so I can not say if they have matured or sound different compared to the new EP called “The Black Sleep” but what I can say is that ”The Black Sleep” EP is a solid (not flawless) output. The five-track EP is definitely good but at some places are kind of boring. Being in a competition with so many other bands today you need to stick out from the rest, by that I mean trying to get all the passion you have and put into your music. Bands that do stick out from the rest are bands that have the little extra. That little extra can be anything from aggressive approach to music where you can hear the vocalist screaming out all the passion he has for the music.
