I have to say that I didn’t really care for this EP when I first listened to it; however, like most albums the more I listened to it the more and more I liked it.  Last View is a 6-piece metalcore band hailing from Stockholm, Sweden. Though unsigned, Last View has a great pedigree for a young band.  They have received recognition for “Demo of the Month” and have been called “Almost Famous” and “Best in Sweden” by a few Swedish magazines.

Last View uses two vocalists, which provide a unique and great ingredient to their music.  With the numerous metalcore bands out there, having a unique ingredient is definitely a good thing in order to set them apart from the rest of the pack.  Last View definitely has an affinity for old school thrash metal that a lot of new bands have abandoned now days.  I think their thrash style is what eventually won me over.

Last View also has some great metaphoric lyrics for today’s perils. From Anastacia, “Let heaven hear, I have become what I’ve stared at for so long, I’ve become the storm”

And from Liaisons, “With one last shot we pierce the veil, Her death notice written in Braille, Our man made justice tips the scales, Born from a Judas’ kiss”

I would say what is best about this EP is the old school thrash, very heavy breakdowns, great use of metaphoric lyrics, and their two vocalists.  I believe all good metalcore bands must possess the ability to connect with their audience and make the crowd go FREAKIN’ CRAZY.  I believe Last View has this quality.  I found myself cranking up the volume and turning my subwoofer up a little and wishing that I had pit to jump into!

Last View already had large underground following and Become The Storm definitely does not disappoint.  This EP should help them get their foot in the door in going mainstream if that is where they want to go.  I would definitely pay money for this EP and see them live.  Currently, you can download this EP for free on their Myspace page.  Last View will be on my iPod for a long time!
