I discovered this band through a friend-request on myspace actually. Usually these friend-requests doesn’t come from bands that are very good, but I tend to give everyone a chance anyway, which in this case was a very smart move.

One of the biggest thing that I find sad regarding music is when you come across a record that has parts that are really great, but also parts that are just OK, or even less good. Unfortunately, this is the deal with Kyte’s EP “Two Sparks, Two Stars”.
The first half of the record is breathtakingly awesome, where the band combines elements of post-rock, electronica and indie in a almost perfect mix. This creates a very beautiful and calming atmosphere, engulfing the listener in an audial landscape that feels like reaching towards the skies. Well, enough with the metaphors. The first two songs is what makes this record worth checking out.

Jag har vanligtvis väldigt svårt att tycka om tysk screamo, då det för mig oftast låter väldigt enformigt och tråkigt. Självklart finns det ju undantag, men i det stora hela är det inget för mig. June Paik är dock ett av de där banden som visar på motsatsen. Deras första fullängdare var bra, spliten med Titan helt strålande och nu kommer de med en 10” som är ungefär lika bra som deras låtar på spliten.

Raein har för mig varit ett sånt där band som hela tiden legat på en nivå som kan klassas som bra, men inte exceptionell. Vissa låtar har varit strålande, medan andra har varit bara OK, vilket har bidragit till att min helhetsbild av Raein har blivit att det är ett bra band, men inte så jättemycket mer.
