We were given the opportunity to ask Dying Diva, an upcoming Italian band, some questions through email…

- First off, who am I talking to in the band and what you do in Dying Diva?
Hi I’m Val the lead singer :-)

- Tell me something about your history, how/when did you first start playing together and recording?
I’ve formed this band one year ago, after my old death metal project ended. Pretty left a comment on my old band’s profile and from that moment on we started writing and recording material together :-)

- Where did you get your name from? Is there a story behind it?
I’ve alwats been very creative with names actually :-) There is a meaning, but I think it’s too “dark”, it won’t fit the band’s ironic mood now. I won’t reaveal it ahhaha

- Your music has a unique sound, What bands are you influenced by? Describe your music.
We’re all into synth pop and metal from the ’80s. That’s the decade we really love. We like almost everything, we all have different backgrounds. From rock to death metal and techno stuff. We wanted to mix electronic and rock sounds like we never heard before…

- Are you writing new material, and if so when are you planning on releasing an album anytime soon?
We’ll soon release an EP, and we’re writing nu songs for an upcoming album.

- What are some bands you are listening to right now?
Well I don’t listen too modern music to be honest. My favourite artists are synth pop and New Wave idols from the 80s like Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, Talk Talk, Cure, Nik Kershaw….We all agree that Blessed By A Broken Heart are a great band anyway :-)
